MJ Startup Branding

A few years ago, when MJ first became legal in Colorado, I connected with some people that wanted to do a startup.

They wanted a design that conveyed information about particular strains while still being visually cohesive and attractive.

I was inspired by a friend who was in the business who wore a necklace that showed the molecular structure of THc. The shape itself wasn’t appropriate ( or as I found out later- even technically correct) so I used a hexagon. 

The full purple outline indicates that the strain is an Indica (Sativas are indicated by magenta). These colors are the common shades of the flowering marijuana plant, although not strain-specific to me the cool calm color of blue-dominant purple was appropriate for Indica, while energetic magenta was more reflective of the qualities of Sativa. Hybrid strains have a multi-colored border and the number and letter in the middle denote certain flavor and effect qualities unique to the strain.
